More and more there is a growing awareness of the mind-body connection. We are beginning to understand that what we think and feel shapes how our body responds, and how our body feels influences our emotional world. Traditional talk therapy is powerful, but healing on a deeper level can require more than conversation alone. When we experience a traumatic, overwhelming, frightening, or distressing experience, the body shifts into survival mode. The body is an instinctive system designed to …
About Me

My name is Monique…
My journey into Psychology began with a simple truth - I know what it is to feel lost and to search for healing and deeper meaning. From a young age, I realised I carried a lot - emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually. But understanding how to process and heal what I carried inside was not so easy to understand and what led me on this journey.
My name is Monique and I am a registered psychologist and certified yoga teacher. For the past few years I experienced a range of therapeutic roles, having the privilege to interact and support so many people; Working in a school with children, teenagers and parents; performing crisis response services; supporting and advocating for individuals with disability; and several years of direct clinical work in private practice. This part of my career established a strong foundation in psychology and evidence-based practice that enabled me to develop a deep understanding of the psychological and cognitive processes that many of us …

Inviting Change

Change. It’s a word that can bring both excitement and dread, often in equal measure. For some of us, change feels like a natural step. There’s a clear knowing deep within that something in our life no longer aligns with who we truly are, so we step forward, confident in the decision. But for some of us, myself included, change doesn’t ask for permission, it comes knocking even when it wasn’t …

Becoming Wise

There comes a time in life where you may find yourself questioning it all. How did I get here? Why do I feel the way that I do? Will this ever end? Is this what life is? There came a point in my life where everything began to change uncontrollably. I used to call that part of my life ‘everything falling apart’. I now see it as ‘everything coming together’. And that doesn’t mean I now live a life free from worry! Not at all, I too still face many challenges. What I learned was that change and, what felt like falling apart, wasn’t the end it was the beginning. It was the space where old identities, beliefs, and attachments crumbled, making room for something deeper and more authentic to emerge. I realised that life wasn’t asking me to have it all figured out; it was asking me to surrender, to trust the process, and to reconnect with the parts of myself I had long ignored. It taught me that even in the messiness, there’s wisdom. And while I still face challenges, I now meet them with a …

As a psychologist, I’ve spent years working with incredible people, listening to their stories, and learning from their experiences. My own journey has been equally transformative. As I’ve walked - and continue to walk - the path of healing, I’ve discovered firsthand that growth isn’t linear. Healing is messy, unpredictable and it’s deeply personal. It’s a series of steps forward, often followed by a few steps back. But it’s through this very process that I’ve come to understand myself more deeply. And it’s this understanding, this shared experience of growth and healing, that inspired me to create WYSEbymonique.
